QUINTIN RAMOLD’S APPLE CAKE

2 cups apples, chopped medium fine
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
¼ cup butter
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
1 cup flour
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon baking powder

Cream white sugar, egg and butter.  Mix dry ingredients and add.  Blend.  Stir in apples.  Pour into greased 9 x 9 pan and cover with brown sugar and nuts. Bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes.
