1 pound red cabbage, thinly sliced
1 small red onion, very thinly sliced
1/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 T. chopped fresh tarragon or 1 tsp dried
1 T balsamic vinegar
sugar to taste
salt and pepper

Combine cabbage and onion.  In a small bowl combine the rest of the ingredients, carefully adding sugar to taste.  Add dressing to cabbage mixture and toss to coat.  Cover and refrigerate at least one hour for flavors to blend.  (May be made up to a day ahead.)  Serve chille or at room temperature.
